Highbanks supports pregnant and parenting youth ages 16–24 and their children by addressing complex barriers to stability and well-being. All clients have experienced significant, intersecting trauma and have made the courageous choice to build brighter futures for themselves and their children through healing, education, and community. Our mission is to support every aspect of their lives, including housing, food security, counselling, Elder and cultural supports, social connection, individual and crisis management. Through a holistic approach, we help participants achieve their goals, complete their education, and build independence with long term housing stability and reduced reliance on social services. Over 50% of our clients are Indigenous with an additional 20-25% identifying as BIPOC. Our clients have experienced multiple and overlapping vulnerabilities including sexual assault, trafficking, criminality, mental health and substance use challenges, poverty and homelessness.
