Homes For Heroes Foundation

Housing Provider

DESCRIPTION

The London Veteran’s Village will provide 25 affordable, fully furnished transitional homes for Canadian Veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Developed by the Homes For Heroes Foundation, the village supports Veterans as they reintegrate into civilian life through a community-based, supportive housing model. Each 300 sq. ft. unit is built to promote dignity and independence, with a full kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and living area, all furnished through our national partner The Brick. Carpet One Floor & Home also supplies all flooring for every home across our villages in Canada. Veterans pay $690 per month, covering housing, utilities, Wi-Fi, and laundry, maintaining both affordability and responsibility. Stays typically range from 6 to 24 months, averaging about 12, during which residents work with case managers and peer supports to regain stability, secure employment, and move to permanent housing. This village builds on our proven model in Calgary, Edmonton, and Kingston, where 87% of graduates have achieved stable, independent living.

Affordability Framework

Each Veteran contributes $690 per month toward their transitional housing and is intentionally kept affordable, designed to support both dignity and independence. Financial literacy is a key part of the Homes For Heroes program, ensuring Veterans are prepared for successful independent living. Many arrive facing financial challenges, so we provide practical education in budgeting, saving, credit management, and long-term planning. These skills help Veterans regain stability, build confidence, and maintain independence after graduating from the village. Their rent includes all utilities, wifi, fully furnished homes and the cost of all our wraparound support programs.

Funding Required

$5,500,000 for capital funding

Funds Raised

Received $900,000 from the City of London, $502,000 from individual donors, corporate giving and family foundations.

Use of funds

The requested funds will be directed solely toward capital costs for the Homes For Heroes Veteran' Village, including the construction of 25 fully serviced tiny homes, essential site servicing and utilities, and the village Resource Centre - the dedicated space where all support services and case management will take place. This investment will create safe, durable, and dignified transitional housing that will serve Veterans for decades. By funding these core capital components, the project will provide long-term community impact, enabling hundreds of Veterans to stabilize, rebuild, and successfully transition to independent living.
