DESCRIPTION

In 2015, Edmonton City Council (the City) designated 14 surplus school sites for affordable housing, including the Belong@Bendera site, which is located at 245 Saddleback Road NW Edmonton. In 2025, the City selected Bendera Housing to lead the development of this important project. Belong@Bendera is due to start construction in Spring 2026 and will comprise: 1. A total of 192 units comprising 168 apartments and 24 townhouses 2. 158 affordable rental homes, with rents capped at a maximum of 80% of market rents 3. A 5,800 sq ft commercial space for potential services or businesses 4. Meeting tier 4 of the National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings. That is, a target of net-zero readiness, subject to funding. 5. 30% of homes built to accessible standards

Seeking $591,360.00 to fund a 324.78kw grid connected solar system at Belong@Bendera

Funds Raised

The overall project has obtained grant funding from the City of Edmonton. The land has been donated by the City. We seek additional funding to enable us to meet our green goals by providing solar energy to the project.

Use of funds

The requested funds will be used to provide 324.78kw of solar energy to the Belong@Bendera project, which will: 1. lower utility bills for all tenants, thereby further improving affordability; and 2. reduce environmental impact for generations to come.
