The Ottawa Community Land Trust works with partners in the community to acquire, steward and develop land in order to preserve and expand affordable housing. Created in 2021 in response to the rapid loss of affordable housing, our first priority has been to raise capital to acquire and preserve existing affordable housing - transferring properties from the speculative market to community ownership. We are currently working on our fourth acquisition, with each one enabled by community investment - specifically the sale of Housing Forever Bonds. Recognizing the expertise of local non-profit and cooperative housing operators, our work is both enabled through partnership and oriented to enabling and building local capacity among partners. While ensuring long-term asset management and portfolio growth, our properties are leased to or managed by local operators.
