Human Impact Story
The most recent tenant in our current affordable housing project of 11 units is a young mother. She and her two chidlren were evicted from her previous housing when her father died. She was not listed on the lease. She had to send her children to another community to be cared for while she couch-surfed for two months, entering an internship program with the government designed to assist Inuit in obtaining government careers. When she got housing with Uquutaq, she was able to bring her children back to Iqaluit and start a new life.
